Answer: everywhere—but often behind the scenes. Women make up around 70% of the labour force in coffee production, especially in the harvesting and processing stages. But when it comes to land ownership, leadership roles, and fair pay, the numbers drop. Way down. 😞

Studies show that when women are given fair access to resources, training, and income, they reinvest it into their families, education, and local economies. That’s some serious ripple effect.

🌿 Abeba in Ethiopia, who leads a cooperative of female farmers producing some of the most beautiful, floral-forward coffee we’ve ever tasted. You’ll find their work in Ethiopian Bliss.
