☕️ Let’s Talk About Coffee Grinds – Because Size Does Matter 😏

Okay, mums, dads, and all the busy people at home, real talk now: If you're brewing specialty coffee but using the wrong grind size, you might be accidentally ruining your own cup. 😬

But don’t worry—I got you. Here's an easy guide to help you figure out which grind goes with what kind of brew:

Extra Coarse: Think big ol’ peppercorns

Use for: Cold brew. Let it chill (literally).

This grind is chunky so it can steep for hours without getting bitter. Smooth, mellow, and perfect for hot summer days.

Extra Coarse coffee grind

Coarse: Like flaky sea salt

Use for: French press

This one’s for when you want a bold, full-bodied cup. Great for lazy weekend mornings and pretending you’re in a Parisian café.

Coarse Coffee grind

Medium-Coarse: Somewhere between sea salt and sand

Use for: Chemex, clever dripperA little more refined.

Think of it as the fancy cousin who knows how to swirl wine and pronounce "Sommelier" correctly.

Medium-coarse coffee grind

Medium: Classic sand vibes

Use for: Drip coffee makers, Aeropress (if you’re brewing longer)T

his is the Swiss Army knife of grinds. Not too fine, not too coarse. Just right when you want solid, no-fuss coffee.

Medium coffee grind

Medium-Fine: In-betweeny, like table salt mixed with sand

Use for: Pour-overs (V60, Kalita, etc.)

If you're the kind of person who times your pour and has a gooseneck kettle... this one’s your jam.

Medium-fine coffee grind

Fine: Smooth like table salt

Use for: Espresso

Tight, compact, and full of flavour.

Fine grind = all that pressure builds up for a shot that punches you (in a good way).

Fine coffee grind

Extra Fine: Basically coffee powder

Use for: Turkish coffee

Tiny but mighty. You don’t filter this grind, you drink it. It's intense, bold, and honestly kind of magical.

💡Barista Tip: Grind fresh if you can. Manual grinders give you way better consistency than blade grinders, though blade grinders are most cost-effective.

Calma option: I use at home the blade grinder ( I know...I know, expert baristas won't like that).... But, for time effectiveness , this one is way faster 😉

Remember: fresh-ground beans = max flavour. Your tastebuds will thank you.

But hey, don't fret! At Calma Coffee Store you can choose the grind you prefer and have the best experience (our coffee beans are always freshly grounded)
